Before a relationship can begin, people have to meet one another, be introduced. Have you met Jesus? It’s the first thing that must happen. If you have questions about how to become a Christian let us know.
God introduced Himself to us through and throughout the Bible. God has gone to great lengths to make sure we could know Who He is, how He can help, what He can do, etc.
In the Old Testament God introduces Himself as:
El Elyon (The Most High God)
Adonai (Lord)
Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah)
Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd)
Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)
Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)
Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)
El Olam (The Everlasting God)
Elohim (Creator God)
Jehovah Rohi (The Lord Our Shepherd)
Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
El Roi (The God Who Sees)
In the New Testament Jesus is called:
Alpha & Omega
Bread of Life
Good Shepherd
Great High Priest
Immanuel (God With Us)
King of Kings & Lord of Lords
Light of the World
Lion of the Tribe of Judah
Messiah & Savior
Prince of Peace
Redeemer
The Resurrection and Life
Son of God
The Word
Having a relationship through only a couple of God’s attributes is no better than seeing God as merely a Santa Claus god, a sugar daddy, a patsy, a gofer, a flunky, a slave…
A true relationship with Jesus will give confidence in every aspect of His personality and His abilities!
Job 19:26, Daniel 3:16-18, 2 Timothy 1:12, Romans 8:31-39
God gave us His Word so we could know for fact who He is! And have this confidence in Him!
The tendency to follow our feelings, to do our own thing, our own way, is why we need relationships with other Christians, especially those stronger, deeper, older than us, to help us see what we’re missing about God, His heart and abilities.
Time is the asset of great relationships and the downfall of neglected relationships. That’s why regular prayer is imperative!
So what, why, how…and WHEN?
Now or never. Thinking, talking, planning are good steps but they are not enough by themselves.
Remember the rich young man that bragged to Jesus about how well he had followed God and then asked what else he should do? Jesus had a DTR talk with him.
Pilate responded, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Matthew 27:22
